|
GST is charged
by the Customs
Department on all imports entering the country for commercial
purposes. |
You will pay this
through your Freight clearance Agent or directly to Customs if
you choose to undertake this yourself. |
Freight forwarders/clearance
agents have EDI systems set up to clear your products fast and
efficiently. |
The payment of
the GST may be done on a deferred schedule (monthly account)
to customs approved importers. |

There is an exemption applied for goods imported that are valued below $400NZ for personal use which allows individuals to purchase and import products without paying GST on those goods to that value. This is not intended for the direct shipment of goods to individuals and continuous shipments may be assessed by Customs as a commercial import if this is found to be occurring and specifically excludes consolidated/deconsolidated shipments of just your products. Shipments may be consolidated with other company shipments by consolidation companies. |
Should you be considering
shipping direct to distributors from outside of New Zealand,
you should obtain advice on the options available for you based
on your product type. |
