When your tax return
is due
|
|
| |
Your default business year for New Zealand
usually runs from 1 April to 31 March. |
|
| You
must get permission from Inland Revenue to use different dates
such those for the US or other countries.. If you are filling
in your tax return yourself, you must send it to Inland Revenue
by 7 July. (Don't file late as strong penalties apply)
|
| If
your accountant or registered tax agent does your return for
you, they usually have a longer time to file under the
IRD tax agent provisions but you must be listed as one of their
clients by IRD.
|
| Once
your return is completed, any final tax that is payable is due
by 7 February the following year. There are some differences
between company and personal tax payment requirements so you
need to check this out as businesses and self employed people
must also pay provisional
tax and this can catch out businesses early on as that is
based on the anticipated income which must be reasonable accurate. |
